This was the second part of the New Brewery Arts Centre project in Cirencester.
This one was designed & made by me. It is the main welcome desk for their gallery and shop space. It is used as an information point and general welcoming desk. The lockable cupboard allows an employee to lock away a laptop and some personal belongings whilst the desk is unattended. The adjustable shelves allow storage for leaflets and desk essentials. The angle and battens were designed to draw you into and around the space. Upper and lower tops created various heights and ensured that it was an accessible height for all. The desk slots into a recessed area in the entrance of the building.

The main structure is made from FSC birch plywood. The European oak battens were machined and precision angles were cut by me to achieve the desired pattern. I then jointed the carcass and glued and pined the battens in place. All pieces were sanded, routed and oiled with Osmo raw and clear to ensure a smooth and durable finish.
