Bespoke Oak Kitchen Island Unit
This oak kitchen island unit was part of a full kitchen renovation that I worked on with Studio Fieldwork. As part of the new kitchen the client wanted more worktop surface and a mobile unit that was at a slightly lower height for the client. The internal shallow drawers were designed for their cutlery and spice drawer requirements. It was a twist on a traditional island unit with a haberdashery style influence.
Made from solid oak and oak veneer panels. Drawers have toughened glass fronts and black richlite inserts for cutlery and spice dividers. Bronze finished handles. Oak dowels form a bottom shelf for vegetable baskets & storage. The solid oak was machined by me in my workshop. The main structure is then cut, jointed, glued up, sanded and routed for a refined finish. It is then finished in Osmo clear oil.
