Ash batten wardrobe

This huge bespoke wardrobe was designed and made for a couple who needed lots of clothes & shoe storage. They wanted drawers along the bottom to be able to access items easily and varied height metal rails. Adjustable triangle shelves were designed for the corner to maximise storage and allow light to still fill the room.

They wanted full height vertical ash battens to make a really striking design feature out of the wardrobe. The birch plywood and light coloured ash would work with the other timber in the house.

I made the carcass’, door frames and drawers from FSC Birch plywood.

The ash battens and drawer fronts were machined by me in my workshop, where I then carefully arranged and finished each piece on individual doors and drawers. Black stain was used on routed handles to create an extra design detail.
